(1.4.2) Cursed - Stalk does not stack.

So I was playing cursed today and idly moused over the stalk status effect, and noticed it was stuck on +1 bonus. Even when I hadn't been attacking anything the past few rounds. So I tested this out a bit. Found something tanky and waled on it, procced and ran off, but the status does not appear to change. I haven't noticed a change in stats or hate gain/loss either.
So uh, is it just not updating at all and taking effect in the background, or does the effect always set itself to level 1 and stay there till it wears off / dies?
