Saving multiple times on entering a level

Sometimes, not infrequently, I'll see the game get into a saving loop.
Right now, I have a log view that says:
There is an exit to the world map here.
You stride into this area without a second thought, blah
Saving done.
Saving game..
Saving done.
Saving game...
Saving done.
And what is probably not logged is it did it a third time after that, passively off to the side in a save bar. This sometimes makes going between levels really painful. It may be more visible if you just are hopping between a level and the world map. I got this with exiting daikara waiting for the save on the map to finish, and then entering daikara again.
It really looks like, at a minimum, it kicks off two 'save' tasks, one that blocks activity and then one that slows things down but doesn't start till the other finishes.
