You became Doomed and started hitting yourself.
Peculiar.
Is the save ruined?

No, after force closing the process I reloaded to having to do the area and thankfully didn't run into the problem again. WEIRD issue though.

The target passing print statement is unclear.

I'll put Gesture of Pain on some trolls and see what happens!
