No Hermit!

Simply put: Hermit does not appear.

Yes, I checked everywhere ;)

Special thanks to Stunt who tried to help me, but was claimed by the demon sleep.

Presented here is my saved game; it's too big to add as an attachment.

Addons are: Stone Warden, Item Vault, Ashes DLC, Alternate Zones Option, Eternal Darkness, Doctor Null's Class Pack, Kestin Highfin's Vault, Extra Dungeons, Escorts Enhanced, and Steamtech UI.

The entirety of my addons folder can be found here.

I've not previously had this problem on previous characters using these same mods.

Afterwards I made a test character to see if it was an isolated problem, and the Hermit did appear for them, so it is (I assume) something specific to this character.

Thanks!

Install zOmnibus, or at least the "go-to-landmark" addon.

Then if this happens in the future, it's really easy to verify that the Hermit isn't just hiding behind a tree graphic somewhere, since you can pull up the list of all possible destinations on the world map and see if he's there or not.

Stunt looked through the save and could confirm that the Hermit simply wasn't in the overworld map.

Come on, give me some credit. I looked!

That's lame.

I wonder if some other random feature got placed over the Hermit's location.

Huh.

Had a game a while back where I couldn't find the Golem Graveyard. Wasn't certain whether I'd actually managed to look everywhere or not, though.

I wonder if it's the same bug.

I've heard of extra dungeons breaking things.
Another option is that the hermit was killed by wandering parties.

So...anyone know how to dig through save files to look it up? Is it salvageable / can the Hermit be respawned? Should I just count myself as being -2 class points and move on?

The usual advice for how to force things to re-generate is to delete that specific map file from your save (disclaimer: I have never done this myself and cannot tell you how to do this).

I think you'd do that while your character is NOT on the world map, presumably while you're in a dungeon with a fixed location like one of the starter dungeons.

I don't recommend ever forcing a wilderness map regeneration. To many important things are popped rather than auto generated.
