Steam version/Item Vault bug

I've got access to the Item Vault thanks to donating, and while I can see the stuff in my Item Vault on my non-Steam install of ToME(and I can see the Item Vault and its contents on my profile at te4.org), my Steam install insists that I have zero slots in my Item Vault and nothing in said zero slots.

Welp, so I logged on to my non-Steam version, retrieved the items, logged on to the Steam version, and the items are now neither in my inventory or in the vault, having apparently been vaporized.
I'd say this is something that may need looking at and/or fixing because that's pretty damn annoying.

The item vault server often is failing to be available (and if a connection failure happens on start of game, it remains unavailable until re-loaded). When it does it can show 0/0 incorrectly or declare an invalidated game. Often repeat tries will have things show up.
Steam also uses cloud saves, so it may have used its save over your offline one which wouldn't have the vault items included, though usually it warns about that since it doesn't know which is more up to date.
Possible ideas on what happened anyway.
