ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So playing a yeek to try and pick up Sopilist. Was on the first map, having failed at the mouse dream 3 times, when the Lost Wife dream showed up instead. Strange, but played along. Got to the broodmother wife that started with 300 hp...and eventually went down to Unknown, taking no damage and repeatedly just hitting me for 2 blight every time I attacked (Dunno what from, melee retalation was 5 on her). She's not attacking, not doing anything, but also not killable for some reason. If I skip turn next to her, nothing occurs. If I hit her, she doesn't die. Pretty sure I'll have to die and start the dream over.

The wiki btw, reports that on 1.2.3 the broodmother won't appear as a glitch. For some reason, I don't see that bug listed here anywhere. For me, she appeared, just was not killable.


Aside, these dream bits are terrible.

Well, 3rd try (6th dream), wife dream again, this time the Wife did not spawn, and sometime in the middle all the yeeks teleported out one by one, leaving the dream husband in a level with no enemies, much as the wiki bug indicated.

Seems Solipist is not gettable in 1.2.3.

did they teleport out at random, or when you tried to trigger them?
the last time i tried the unlock, i managed to kill her at first try, but did not got the unlock, so i tryed second time.
and whenever i tried to trigger one of they yeek, i either become a ghul, or just disappear without leaving anything behind.
I believe that, as it was new dream, the yeeks had agine, had chance to attempt the spawn of the wife, but since wife had already spawned once, on for that character, it connot spawn spawn agine.

Specific mobs, like bosses and uniques, can only spawn once, per run.

Yeah, sounds like that's it.

If the broodmother glitches the first run, the next run it won't even spawn because of that apparently.

"if brood mother glitches the first time" no, I killed her. its just for some reason did not register for the unlock.
and when I say "run" i mean character, not attempt for the dream.

Anyhow, it seemed leaving the map entirely, coming back much later, resulted in the broodmother spawning again when doing the lost wife dream. Which made solipist doable this run thankfully.

When the wife dream did repeat during my many mouse runs, the yeeks would sometimes teleport out.

I suspect the situation is:
1)The wife will spawn as one of the yeeks the first time you enter the dream that map.
2)If you die or kill the broodmother (either), any subsequent lost wife dreams on caldera will not have the broodmother, and will have yeeks vanish.
3)Leaving the map entirely and coming back seems to fix it. You just have to succeed once though, so if you do kill the brood mother, any repeat lost wife dreams can just be suicided out of for speed.

Might be wrong but sharing in case it helps someone else.

I said that I attempted this dream 3 times, if not more.
between each wife dream, there was a mouse dream. I did win every mouse dream

(well, here i said "second". still, I did finish the mouse dream, but that's not the point of this topic. its just the wife dream)
