Achievements don't work :(

I don't seem to be getting any achievements registering on both the game server and steam. I completed the tutorial and got "Baby Steps" but that is it. Any ideas why this may be? In a game with so many achievements it would be nice to be earning some

Were you playing on Easier mode? You can't get achievements in that mode.

Achievements seem to have stopped working sometime in mid to late June. The last one I earned was June 18th.
(I'm not playing on easy.)
This also appears to prevent unlocks from being recorded on the server (and thus when you install fresh you may end up with only some of the unlocks you had previously).
