I am not absolutely certain whether I suffered from a bug or if this is the normal behaviour when turning into a lich.

While playing my necromancer, I died on the Dark crypt (4) with Lichform skill on (it was "raw" level 5, so level 6.5 including masteries).
I got the achievement for turning into a Lich, but instead of coming back to life, I remained dead.

I was surrounded by numerous enemies, but I am a bit surprised I did not get to see one turn as a Lich.
Aren't you supposed to get healed back to full, or at least get 1 turn to reactive shields / teleport away?

Let me know if I can provide more information to help, I am not sure if my online character log is enough.

[Edit : Re-reading my character sheet, I can see that on the quest "From Death, Life", the subquest "Amass enough energy to use rebirth (40 energy)" is greyed.
This is surprising, as I used said energy for the ritual allowing me to actually put points in lichform.
Do we need 40 energy twice, once to activate the Lichform skill and once again on death?
If so, it is a bit unclear as I noticed no new "subquest" appear after you use 40 energy in the Fortress.]

it's really best to turn to a lich out of combat. in fortress, nuking yourself with something. also i tested lichform in 1.2.1 and it definitely worked for me.

Yeah I died on purpose against a mob with lichform activated and just died. Ported to fortress and nuked myself and then it worked.... bug or does the transformation process needs clarification?

Bug. You used to be able to go lich at the hands of the enemy. I particularly liked doing with the Master.
