Game Becomes Unresponsive After Player Death, Must Kill ToME

The code I pasted here is from te4_log.txt, and took place IMMEDIATELY after I chose to restart ToME with the same character (it also becomes unresponsive if I choose new charactere).

It goes to the loading screen, but all the UI elements flicker while the bar fills up, including the text over the bar (the % numbers). When the bar fills it just sits there flickering and the game forces me to alt-tab then kill it manually before I can play again.

I am on Steam with the newest game version.

Problem persists even if I delete every addon file and run a file verification on Steam. I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, problem persists through that too.

I will try the non-Steam version next...
