Crash during betrayal escort, replay is non-betrayal

Playing a
Thalore Oozemancer, I ran into an magical escort on level one of the Old Forest, so of course the only option I get is to betray the escort. I finished the escort, but the game crashed soon after, so I restarted it. After finishing the escort this time, I get the non-betrayal options, and while it's tempting to choose some sort of magic for my Oozemancer just for the hilarity, that's clearly wrong.

really tempted to continue rolling with my now magic-equipped oozemancer, especially since I've already gotten Fungus unlocked from Zigur, but I felt like I needed to at least let someone know, whether or not I do.

Had a similar case happen earlier today on another character. It seems like if you have a save at the start of an escort level, instead of saving the appropriate type of escort mission you chose (help or betrayal), it just is saved as helping them if you end up having to restart. Haven't attempted to dig at the code, so not sure if this is because the saving is happening before the choice is made and is just saving some default state about the escort mission, or if it's just saving some hardcoded value accidentally instead of what the player chose, but seems like it's one of those two.

Manual save when you enter level with escort, after you make your choice helps to avoid this issue.

IIRC, that really old bug, happened to me even during pre-rescaling runs.

Well, that's a shame. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but I've been having random, yet relatively frequent, crashes with the OS X client (nothing I can reliably reproduce, else I'd send it in also) and so I've been hitting this way more than normal lately.
