ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

My Sher'tul fortress bugged out and reverted to unexplored state. I used my rod of recall from the Far East Rak'shor Pride and it teleported me to my fortress but instead of placing me at the exit portal like normal, it placed me at the entrance stairs where I had to fight the guardian again. When I got inside there was no butler, no cat, no Melinda, and all of the doors are re=locked.

Has this happened to anybody else? And is there a fix?

I'm at a much earlier point in the game (~lvl 20) but just had exactly the same bug...

The orb won't let me insert the rod of recall either, so the servant won't show up. Makes the fortress kinda useless now

Any way to hack the savefile and insert the old rod of recall?
