ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Spoilers… maybe?

I made it to the beach and exited when the monsters came (I exited to make dinner as i didn't have time to address a battle then) and when I reloaded… nothing.

I can wander around but I can't leave and nothing is happening.

It's version 1.1.3 on a mac.

You mean the yaeches poped, you saved, then reloaded, killed them?
Did you kill them all, did melinda explode ?

I had a similar thing happen, maybe this will help:

I entered the beach zone, and Melinda's dialog popped up. While the dialog box was still open, I noticed that I had been kicked from the server due to connection problems. I was worried that my character would be invalidated if I advanced any quests while disconnected, so I killed Tome, restarted it, waited for it to sync with the server, and then loaded my character. I was back at the beach, but this time no dialog triggered. The stairs wouldn't let me leave back to the world map, but Melinda wouldn't advance the plot either.

YES! I have had this exact same problem. I used the rod of recall to warp to the fortress because I couldn't leave the zone normally and I couldn't talk to Melinda.

I talked to her later in Last Hope and I could only say (spoilers?) "I am still looking out for an explanation of what happened at the beach."

That's it.

I have no idea what happened at the beach, and I can't go back there to find out. No quests started for me that I failed, and I'm worried I broke something.

I may have a friend who might know the answers. He's called Sher'Tul.

He only helps if you leave the beach "normally." If you Recall out of a bugged beach, he has no additional dialogue.

His dialogue option lead me Rio believe it might work. That's what the reply is when leaving the beach properly.

I had the same bug a while ago, I had to drown Melinda to exit to the world map

This appears to still be a bug.
