artifacts spawn inside the arena [1.1.3]

I'm pretty sure this has already been reported a while ago, but I just saw it again in 1.1.3. My slave died, and apparently he was wearing some artifact gauntlets (didn't help him much 
) because they dropped onto the center of the arena. Annoying, because now I don't see any way to ever pick them up.
