Used animus purge on the halfling slinger in the arena in Derth, made the halfling a Husk, did not spawn next enemy, killed halfling by casting Animus purge again (on the Husk, maybe killed it, maybe killed it through animus purge killing last Husk automatically) No spawn of next mob. Had to rod out.

I had the same issue. So long as you kill them with a non Animus Purge method, the event will trigger.
