Help! Stuck in Santascape!

I was going through the Santascape, beat the boss, got all the goodies, and then found that I could not get out.
No escape portal popped up, can't use rod of recall. The character has some items from the vault of a character that's one version back. Killing the little helpers didn't do anything.
Is there a way to get my character back into a game area that I can get out of? Thanks in advance.
