[1.1.1] Can't enter stores

I just got a very promising Oozemancer over to the Far East and I can't enter into any of the stores or buildings in town. Which means I can't talk to the dude I'm supposed to. I'm a halfling, not wearing anything that gives me unlife. I'm really at a loss on this one. I was able to enter shops back in the West, so this is a bit of a surprise to me.
