yea i used the spell alot to get better bossloot, and found this reproducable bug:

any spell used after casting see the threads hits urself as well as the designated target. this applies for echoes from the past (impossible to hit urself usually) as well as all beams, quantum spike. i have seen this bug multiple times and there are no anomalys or backfires involved.

guess it might even apply to projectile/aoe spells that were fired before using see the threads but dunno, check this character report about his last death as anorithil using threads of fate:

Changed the title because it now happened without using see the threads.

it seems to happen when having haste active, moving a tile and then casting a spell which kills the mob. in the screenshot u can see im also hitting the afterimage from haste (i cast rethread, which is a beam, and there was 1 afterimage exactly south of me so i shouldnt have hit it either) - but i think it has happened without hitting it. might be related to the duplication bugs tho?

the red message space and time fight against ur control only says my paradox is rising to higher failure rates, thats no anomaly AFAIK - correct me if theres mistakes

the bug is getting dangerous now with high resistance penetration and increased damage from temporal form. i would have died 1 or 2 times without cauterize - and it happened like 5-8 times during my run now.

I cant seem to reproduce it, can you mail me a savefile where I can see it in effect please ?
