Got curious, so I did a fast test. As long as you forcequit at the message where you're told that X potion has been made by another Alchemist, and not a bit later, you can reload and get a different potion lost.

I think this is a result of moving the save point so that people weren't having one Alchemist make the potion and still not actually get the potion they asked for, a few versions back.
