Massive Slow downs/stuttering/hitching + freezing and others

So yeah, I started playing this game about a month ago or so. It was fine, played perfectly, for a couple of characters. No issues at all, what-so-ever. Then I started having issues. I originally thought they must be due to an addon I had downloaded (talent point planner), but I have since disabled/deleted the addon and still am having issues. Possibly even worse than before. I am still running both the Stone Warden and Item Vault addons, but I have just about always had those running, even before I started having issues.

The biggest issue is slowdown/hitching/stuttering. After playing for a while, the game just slows down. Resting can take forever, as health and resources trickle in at 1 hp/resource every 1-2 seconds or slower. Movement is visibly lagged and whenever spell affects of any kind go off, the game stops, waits 5-30 seconds, and then resumes play. This gets worse and worse, and is generally only solved by restarting my computer. This can start happening very soon into playing, or it can not happen for hours. If I keep playing anyway, eventually the game will freeze (not crash, just lock up and force me to force-close the program). At that point, a restart of my computer is needed to be able to continue playing at all.

This is extremely distressing, because often I can't clear out a single dungeon before I have to restart my computer. It makes playing very tedious and problematic. And the worst part is I have no idea whats up. I have a fairly beefy machine, 8gigs ram, a GeForce 560 Ti card, i5-2500K processor, running 64x Win 7, etc. I just built this machine last spring. It's no slouch and can run things like Far Cry 3 at max settings, no problem. I don't know why it would be having issues with ToME. I also did a double check of all my drivers, and everything seems to be up to date.

I also have a different, very strange issue. During the transition between levels in a dungeon, occasionally instead of a black background and a loading bar I will get a white background and a loading bar. The new floor of the dungeon loads just fine, everything inside works, and I can play as normal after this happens. However, if I change levels again, I am doomed. While the next level will work properly (as long as I am still inside the dungeon), I will no longer be able to save at all, nor will save/exit cause me to exit the game. The only way out is a force-close. Further issues arise if I change levels a third time, or if at any point after I get the "white-background-loading-screen" I try to go from a dungeon to the world map. If I do either of those things, the game loads the level of the dungeon I was just in, except there is nothing there, including me. No icons for anything but the walls and the floors. The game will be completely unresponsive at this time, as well. I will not be able to open the menu, move my now "invisible" character around, turn on scroll mode (via caps-lock) or anything at all. I will have to force-close.

This second issue is much easier to deal with, as if I save/exit as soon as I get the white screen the first time and then quit and reload ToME, everything goes back to normal and I can play on (until it happens again).

I have tried a variety of things to try to fix either problem, with no luck, including turning off the OpenGL feature in game, reducing the number of particles to basically nothing (as low as 10), turning off the weather and the day/night cycles, etc. All of these have been of no help, sadly. So any help on either of these issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I am not sure what I which files I'd need to manually move before I deleted it to keep my unlocks and saves, but if someone has an idea as to what I need, I'd be happy to give that a try.

Its a memory fault.
Addons make the game eat up memory. (Apparently by filling up your memory with nonsensical path string)
As soon as you get the white load screen, save and exit, cos its ran out of ram.

I thought the white screen might be related to the addon, but why would it still be causing issues when I'm only running the two donator mods, which never caused problems before?

And what about the slowdown?

Cause of memory eating not yet know, but it can cause slow downs.

Disabling Stone Warden when you aren't using it should help.

I'll give it a try! Thank you very much!
