Are you sure about this? Escort rewards improve stat bonuses (which are unlimited). rather than base stats (which are limited by character level).

If this is happening, it's a new bug. Check that the total stat (the number after the slash on the character sheet) has not increased.

It seems that you are correct. In this case, perhaps it should be made more explicit somehow.
