Edit: The bug has been properly diagnosed, I filed a proper bug report. I thought it might have to do with encumberance at first silly me.

how do you become encumbered WHILE in the dialog ?

That might not be the issue. I realize just now that I activated the dialog when I had the corruptor trapped in my own fearscape.
