Elemental Surge nature effect not protecting vs magic

The new elemental prodigy's nature effect gives an effect that makes you immune to negative physical effects, not magical ones as per the description (tested in godmode). Also, this may be my imagination, but it seems to be triggering way less than it's supposed to.
