ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I found a naga spawner in Gorbat Pride and decided to enter before I remembered I didn't have any way to breathe. Not having been in one before, I elected to use the rod of recall immediately upon entering. When I was yanked back, I reentered Gorbat Pride and was surprised to find it untouched. I had to rekill all the baddies and loot the same loot.

If you check the inventory, you'll see two copies of the randart Dairodin which I looted from the same boss twice.

Also, using rod of recall during an ambush will reset some of the world map's most recently explored area.
