ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I just went to the charred scar for the 1st time with my Solipsist and I survived the timer. A message popped telling me to go back east via the portal but no portal appeared and I can't do anything. Rod of recall is disabled. I accidentally hurt the sun paladins during the fight which made them hostile so I killed them. Does this have something to do with it and is there any way out?! This is my best character so death to bug would make me weep!

No, I got no error and my quest log has the doom to the world or whatever quest listed as completed but there is no way out!

You need to go ask in the spoiler section. I bet you never found something(I swear DG needs to put an arrow on the floor or something). This quest is not obvious at all.

Lol! Found the way thanks man. Sorry to waste yr time DG it's all good. It did think it seemed a bit of a dull quest just standing around waiting for the orcs for hundreds of turns!

Err yes your game is not toasted at all; you just didnt listen to the sun paladins before you slaughtered them

Haha! yeah, I did ignore some speech bubbles at some point there!

Speaking of which... it is really easy to miss those speech bubbles. Usually they are generated outside of the screen.

This happened to me as well. Some of these quests are not intuitive at all and should probably be tweaked in the journal.

But why dont you try to explore the rest of the level anyway ?
