ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

This is the second time I have had a whole town with no useable shops. Makes this particular game completely unplayable since it is in lost hope before I bought armor and slings.

A perfectly fine level 13 dwarven mage I am going to have to give up on because of this.

Is there a fix for this? Or do I need to start doing really scummy things like making a copy of the save file early and often ?

Send me the save while in town so I can have a look please.

What did happen exactly before the town got hostile ?

Town is not hostile, the shops just do not work.

Game crashed while loading the town level is how it happened I think.

Ok, I trashed the savefile for the town of hope and that reset it. All the shops now work.

If you get this bug looks like it is easy enough to just trash that particular towns savefile.

I've gotten a bug like this by reloading a game save from my very first entrance into a town, as a note, regardless of crash or not.

Sadly I don't have a save for it, or I'd send it.

I've had this one too, but only from a crash whilst in the shop. Reloading the save, you can't reenter the shop.

I did this is in Angolwen after my computer crashed & got the shops back but lost the 2 unique characters. Does anyone know a way to fix this? Currently I can work around it by keeping 2 copies of the town saves. 1 with characters, 1 with shops & swapping.
