[b40] character stuck

Hi,

Just had something odd happen. While on the world map my character suddenly became unable to move. The game is still running, I can acces my inventory and information screens just can't move. I can even see npc patrols walk past.

I've tried all the obvious things like reloading, exiting the game and reloading, removing all items and trying a different character but nothing seems to unstick me.

Any suggestions?

load up the character, try to move, and look at log.txt to see if anything pops out at you. If you find a likely culprit, post it and it will help to solve the issue. If not, attach the log anyways.

Just checking: are you encumbered? That's probably not the issue, though it seems to match your symptoms.

I had exactly the same bug at b40. I got stuck in the mages secret city. (whatever its name is). I wasn't encumbered. Couldn't move. Couldn't use talents. I could use inventory and items though. I even was able to use wand of recall. But the problem is the global timer didn't move no mater what I would do. And I couldn't rest (part of the same bug). So Wand of Recall did nothing, since it also got stuck at 41 countdown.



I've asked in the chat and it turned out other people had the same bug in different dungeon, and they also had to abandon the game.


Please, need help! I really hope there is a workaround for this bug or a quick fix from dev, otherwise all these hours in this char would be wasted.... :( And clearly the are various people experiencing this bug.

I've got the same issue... Second time actually. Both with Temporal Wardens. Don't see anything remiss in the error log report.

I managed to kill my character. Then it start to move. If i go back to Daikara, char will stuck again.

I have this same bug. :/ Kind of depressing, this was going very well for me. a reaver with all the right equipment drops, maturing nicely.

Is there no console mode or something to at least get me out of the area? It looks like from chat logs in game, and posts on here that it's affecting a lot of games.

Yeah, a number of my new toons have been locked in this manner... not specifically Diakara. Some in the Old Forest, some in random starter zones. No clone in sight, no ability to move, recall or teleport. Alas.. had to abandon each.

Hi chaps,

I have also experienced this bug a few times.

It seems to happen exactly one tile into an already visited dungeon.
If so, a 'quick and dirty' fix is to break out of the game into your operating system, and forcibly close the Game (without saving).
(In Windows: <Ctrl><Alt><Delete>, Task Manager, select the Application, and click End Task).

When you restart the Game and reload your character it will be at the last save, inside the dungeon on the entrance tile. Do not try to move into the dungeon, as you will just be stuck again. Instead exit the dungeon, and never return to it, as the bug will still get you every time in that particular dungeon.

So I guess if this happens to you on the world map, you're just screwed eh? (Which is exactly what happened to me)

So I just had this happen again, this time going into Trollmire. This time, I was running it in character mode, and I noticed something odd. My character was duplicated on the screen. As long as I don't try to move off the exit, I can leave just fine. Whenever I come back, a duplicate of myself at level 2 (the level I was when I left Trollmire the first time) is sitting diagonally next to the world exit, and if I move off the exit, I'm stuck. I've attached a screenshot.
