ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hello!

So i downloaded the latest build (?) from the homapage and tried to play. After 10-20mins the game freezes which also freezes my OS (Windows 7 32 bit) to an unrecoverable state. I must reboot the machine to be able to continue. No errorlog is written by lua. I ecountered the crash each time i played so far (6:ish times).

Please advise.

I'ts hard to keep playing when you must save every minute and reboot after a freeze =)

When you start, go to video options and disable options and see if you can isolate a graphics issue. Frame buffers is most common

You mean disable them one by one?

Sadly it still crashes after i disabled all graphical options.

Any advice is apreciated...

Mmmm...not sure in that case.

Create a shortcut and run tome.exe --flush-stdout

This will update log in real time and you might see from the log the context in which the crash is occuring. Post log here and someone might be able to help.

If you wish to watch the log as well, download and run baretail.exe and point it to the log file.

I narrowed the problem down to the inventory screen. The crash only happens (at least to 95%) when browsing inventory or using a store.

I did not manage to get any lua logging activated, for some reason no log is written besides the te4_log, anyone care to advice?

PS. i'm using the t-engine.exe, is there actually a tome.exe?

Edit: ocasionally (5% of times) it happens during levelup also, so must be related to the dialog screens somehow. Guess ill have to quit playing before i break my computer with constant reboots...
