Game crashes shortly after starting

When I start the game, it seems to behave normally (loads menus, music plays) but it crashes a few seconds after it starts up. I've tried it on b37 and b38. What should I do?

First step is to tell us your system configuration, including operating system, graphics card, basic system specs (CPU make/model/speed, RAM, etc), if you are running anything else at the same time, and if you have similar problems elsewhere.

Oh, duh.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit SP1, on an Intel Core i5 760 (2.8 GHz) with 8GB DDR3 RAM and two Radeon 6850 graphics cards running in Crossfire (tried disabling one, made no difference). Only program running in the background is avast anti virus. I have no similar problems with other applications.
