Controlling Alchemist golem bugs quests

Posted about this over at SomethingAwful, and oneliquidninja suggested I post it here.
I was playing as an alchemist, and had made it a habit to control the golem, while leaving the alchemist to spam channel staff. I noticed that when I started talking to people, they would bug out, and refer to the golem (like "Hello, race_alchemist_golem!" or some such thing), but didn't really think much of it. Then I got one of the "Escort to the portal" quests, and when I completed it, I got a few options as rewards, one being to add the divination tree to my skills, which I selected... adding the tree to my golem. I obviously couldn't use it, as he had no tree points (though ninja informed me that there is a way for them to gain them eventually), and, more distressingly, he stopped gaining class points (which his two trees use) and started only gaining generic points, which he couldn't use due to divination still being locked. I'd say that by default, all NPC's should act as though they're talking to the character, even if controlling the summon, and if people really want the option to give their golems new trees, make it that: an option when you pick the reward. It's not something I expected to be hit with as a new player (though I do understand the game is still in beta. not upset or anything, just bringing attention to it).
