ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Playing a Dwarf Temporal Warden on my last life, I made it to the Daikara and into the portal so I figured "welp, might as well make this last life count and unlock Paradox Mage" so I let Future Me go to town.

He hit me with Quantum Spike and... I died. No unlock notification, no Future Me vanishing, just game over. I figured maybe you have to have a life to spare so I went to start up a new victim but now the game locks up while I'm picking race/class. Not every single time, but more often than not. Checking te4_log, it looks like things are hanging up when it's scrolling through the [BIRTHER] stuff so I'm thinking maybe the flag for Paradox Mage is the cause but I'm no expert.

Any thoughts?

Wait, wait, did the Paradox Mage unlock change? I thought that you never got a chance to enter the portal before your future self appears -- when I did it, he just appeared the instant I entered the last level of Daikara. (Or second-to-last, whichever it is.)

Ack, I misspoke there, I meant to say "the level with the portal". My mistake!
