Quest bug [b33]

Leaving the unremarkable cave in b33, my game crashed. On logging back in I had to reclear the cave and was able to leave by switching to ASCII. However, the quest "Into the wild wild east" never updated and now no one in Gates of Morning will give quests.
I don't know if this bug persists in b34, but if at all possible I would like to keep this char going - he is doing really well. Is there any way I can mod the save to finish the quest?
