ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm playing a Temporal Warden in b30; I'm about level 17. Recently, I just got back home and noticed that my movement speed was at -50% (well, a bit above that when I had Celerity up.) I have no idea what caused it. Bricks said he had a similar issue with a Cursed, but hadn't reported it.

I had just been fighting some adventurers and they cast some debuffs on me, but I don't recall any that dropped my speed by -50%. It could have been like this for a while, too -- as a Temporal Warden, my usual strategy would've been to either teleport straight to monsters and flurry them, or shoot them with the corpsebow until they're next to me, so I might not have realized that my speed was dropped for a long time. The only other odd thing I did was fiddle with a few staves activated abilities -- stone vines or whatever. That was ages ago, though...

You mentioned it, so it probably is the cause -- Stone Vines. It's a talent for a class not quite implemented in b30 yet, and it drops your speed by 50%. If it were still on, then there's no bug to be had.

If th'speed malus is lingering after the sustain is deactivated, though, then yeah, there's a problem.

I definitely tried using that effect at one point, so that must be it. It didn't create a sustain, it appeared to have no effect at all when used. So there's really no way to get rid of the speed penalty.

Yes, that was my experience. I activated it, and nothing seemed to happen, so I shrugged, assumed I was using it wrong, and ditched the item that had it. This was ages ago... I'm surprised I didn't notice, but like I said, my character was mostly using ranged / teleportation and not doing much walking in front of enemies anyway.

If you use the item twice, your speed should return to normal.

Hmm, that worked. Luckily I still had the staff I used -- oddly, when I used a different staff that had that power, it dropped me to -75%. But using that staff again raised it back to -50%, and then when I dug the original staff out of my storage vault, it raised it back to 0%.
