ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So ... finish off playing my mage for the night.

Have logged out and back in with it already once... wanted to look at the skills on a mindslayer.
Make my mindslayer then log out... time to go back to the mage again....

No save file for the mage. I've had the save folder open on my other monitor and I know the file was there... but somewhere in this process it's deleted my character... for the second time now.

The only thing I can think of that would affect it was the characters name was "player" (the mage.. with the mindslayer I remembered to name it something else.)... because I forgot to give it a name while rolling it.

Still tho.. is there a way to add a check so it doesn't override or delete older characters without a prompt?

Have only had this problem with the current beta never had problems before... and only thing I could think of on my end that affected it was the name "player"

Tested it a bit more.... seems it was leaving the chars name as player that did it.


For the scatterbrained people like myself I have an idea.

Instead of having the default name being player... which causes this prob... either have the default name blank and not let people past that window without picking a name... or have it say "randomly generated" ... which if left like that when you go to the next screen it randomly generates a name for you based on race/sex.


all my fault tho lookin back at it.. really should remember to pick a name.
