Disruption Shield says it blows up for arcane damage in the amount of damage it absorbed, but what I just saw against a faerlhing made no sense. Shield blew up, particle effects everywhere, but did no damage to me, nor to the faerlhing that lost its shield. This supposed to happen?

It doesn't absorb any damage from the attack that breaks the shield IIRC. You probably destroyed the shield in one hit, before it absorbed any damage.
