Game not saving

I just lost my level 16 archmage.
Not to dying, no.
My game crashed. I reported that crash in the other post.
I just started Tome back up, expecting to be able to load my archmage from the last save.
But.. No save there at all
I did notice, that every time my game was saving, the progress bar went up to about 40%, and then it would say "saving done"
The character before this failed to be created due to the bug that freezes the game on character registration.
I also did notice, that with this new character, I never saw the "registering character" message. (My online profile is active though). I don't know if that's related.
Is there any way I can still retrieve my character from somewhere?
