ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I've lately been getting a lot of crashes when the game attempts to register the char online, likely due to the dodgy connection in my new flat. Alas I never have gdb running when this happens... Still there does seem to be some problem here. The game brings up a box say "Registering char blah blah" and then it freezes up and does not respond. Anyone else had the same problem?

Yes, same problem. It sometimes helps to wait a couple of minutes before leaving the levelup-screen. Also, if you kill the process, the character may have already been created and can be loaded. For Arena characters I've noticed that then they'll be missing their perk item.

Fixed

Now it will timeout at 10 seconds at most.
Also if a char has not been able to register at birth the game will be more lenient and try to register it again later so you dont loose chars online

Just to throw it in here, mine does the same even though the connection is ok. I have an iftop session running while trying to set up a new character, and I see the connection to the tome server active while the game is hung up. Not sure if this is on the user's end or on the tome server's side, I have been seeing errors on the website lately too.
