ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Playing as a dwarf fighter, finished Relkor, left to explore and whenever I try to return to the Iron Council, the game freezes.

Actually, it does load, I get into the Council but as soon as a I take a step, then the game freezes.

Does it continue playing music when it freezes? I've been seeing this when I enter any city from the worldmap, it usually un-freezes after a minute or two though.

I'm mostly deaf so I usually keep the sound and music off.
I turned it up and tried waiting, and it worked....I guess i wasn't patient enough.

The fact that you have to wait a "minute or two" for the game to unfreeze, with no indication that anything's going on, is nevertheless inexcusable and still a bug.

This happens to me when I enter most cities in b23. It does not ALWAYS happen, and sometimes the "wait" is longer than others.

Is the game by chance saving while this wait is occurring? If it is, you may want to adjust your save settings to not save when leaving or entering a new zone. If it is still happening, you may want to shut off all auto save settings.

Minimally though, I suggest always shutting off the ' Save in the Background ' setting as it actually slows just about everything down.

Yeah, it acted like it was saving even though I had save on enter area disabled. The wait time was longer when I had a particle effect thing going on like Strength of Purpose or Arcane Power, and only a few seconds if I had no particle effect sustained powers going. Will see what it's like in b24 soon enough.

Then you are probably running with too high partical density for your machine - perhaps try cutting it down to 50 or even 30 - don't worry, it just doesnt' look as 'potent' but you will still see everything.
