You can Rush through walls.

Provided that you can target the enemy via some detection ability. This works if only one square of wall is directly in front of you, and if nothing else intervenes you and the target.

My Shadowblade has done this for a long time using her Arcane Eye ability, and it was assumed that this was close to the intended behaviour, as she has had Probability Travel active at all times. Of course, as I have discovered, you do not need PT active.

I enjoyed playing with this power! My opinion is that for the mundane ability, Rush, this is too powerful a trick (I was using it to negate bosses and powerful enemies immediately, by double-striking them with slime, icy and torment weapons before they even had a chance to notice me)... but for the magically-inclined Shadowstep it would be the ideal way to make that talent a little more special (particularly if it keeps its extremely high stamina cost — 130-ish for my SB). For that kind of cost, it would be nice if you could use it through any number of intervening wall squares, and if you could even use it to step through other creatures to an enemy in clear sight (perhaps just so that characters without detection talents aren't left out). Stepping through walls might still demand that you keep PT on!

I never used Shadowstep when other debuff effects were so forthcoming, and when Shadowstep was so expensive compared to other mobility options. I may be missing something by not playing a stealth build, but I can't really see it, and I'd love to see a Shadowstep that feels different somehow from a rush and then a stun for a character like mine—whether the way I have suggested or another.

Looking forward to hearing what you guys think about this. At the very least, try using this strategy as it currently is, and see if you get anything out of it!

I know the rush code, and now that you point this out it makes complete sense. Good on you for finding it! I'll fix it and send it to DG...

Giving Shadowstep a pass terrain flag might work for the idea and sounds really cool and shadowblade ish. Also since the class has access to the detection tree they could make use of this new found utility.
