ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I am in Ardhungol. On level two, I found a huge huge huge pile of undead--after detecting, the entire side of the screen was covered in red, all undead. I saw some text msgs like "Elder Vampire summons a wight!"

I left, because I couldn't kill them fast enough, and then came back, got to level three, and found the same thing.

I'm not *sure* it's elder vampires. But it has basically stopped my progress through Ardhungol... Hundreds and hundreds of bad guys, so that the game basically comes to a stop...
