b20 Curse of Magic fail, anti-magic without talent tree

Alright, I tried searching around for this one, and I didn't see anybody else with this exact problem (though I did notice a lot of problems with Curse of Magic)
So the first time I went to Zigur, I talked to the guy who gives you the Curse of Magic quest. At first I declined it, which immediately failed the quest for me. Afterward, a friend of mine I was playing with convinced me to try it anyway so I went back and talked to him and accepted the challenge. I did the challenge and won, but the quest still says failed, and the guy acts as if I had never taken the challenge at all and I cannot talk to the leader of Zigur, either, saying that I still need to take the test.
What ended up happening is now I have anti-magic, but no anti-magic tree, and probably have screwed myself over utterly - now I have all the drawbacks of antimagic (no arcane forces items) and none of the advantages (no talent tree to use).
Probably would be asking for too much, but ultimately I'd just like to get rid of my character's antimagic status and get rid of the failed quest status. Probably not happening, though. I only started playing this game like two days ago, and I like it a lot... aside from that bit that happened there. Very annoying.
So, now what?
Edit: Ah, sorry. This is in version b20, the latest one.
