ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I was looking for the lumberjack quest (mostly for the exp bump), and it was taking longer than normal to trigger. Finally I get the quest, on the exact same step as I'm attacked by a jackal pack. That would be okay, if odd. The problem was that, this having happened, it wouldn't let me select the "I'll see what I can do" option. (I tried to select it a number of times and nothing happened.) Finally, I had to select the "sucks to be you" option just to continue with the game, but that's something of a sad answer, all things considered.

I had the exact same problem. At the same exact instant I got the dialogue about the lumberjacks, I got attacked by some critter on the map, and it wouldn't let me select the "I'll see what I can do" option.

Huh, that happened to me except it was the crypt, and it did let me enter the crypt.
