I have lost 2 games to bugs in beta 18

In an earlier game, I was killed by the boss in the sand dungeon along with his minions, and when i told it to resurrect it created an '@' symbol but then it came up with the death choice menu again.(maybe an error, I can't remember) I could hit resurrect as many times as I wanted and it kept making @'s in every unoccupied space in vision but I could not play anymore.
In my current game, I am a level 16 dwarf wyrmic. When I loaded my save, I found that my brass lantern no longer makes any light. I tried picking up another brass lantern and switching them, and also tried taking off all my gear(in case it had some sort of light reducing effect) to no avail. I tried a wand of illumination and that still works fine. I am unable to find anything else to produce constant light with besides brass lanterns and cannot continue my game.
