ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Starting up new character in Trollmire, the entire ToME window goes black. Character apparantly moves around but is not displayed. Right-click of mouse will show the window contents, briefly, but they go black again randomly on moving the mouse or typing any keyboard command. Changing graphics mode may or may not reactivate the window. Game eventually hangs with black window or window starts to strobe about 10 or 12 per second.

Restart of saved game seems to work OK.

I have seen similar things on Mac OSX, but instead of a black screen it is a jumble of ToME graphics. What OS are you using?

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Intel q6600, 4G ram.
