ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I'm not gonna lie; I can't beat Bill without stairs abuse.

So I'm doing my normal thing. Go; aggro Bill, run back. Everything's going fine. I'm on the stairs. Bill is one space above me, and the space below me is clear (not a tree).

Bill knocks me south. After the move, the stairs are empty, Bill is one space above them, and I'm one space below.

I press Up, and here's where things get weird.

Bill moves down, and I move up. Okay, I think to myself, not a huge deal. This has happened to me quite a few times before (particularly with spawning drake hatchlings). However, the "me" that was in the space below the stairs is still there.

So, to recap:

X
Y

X: Stairs, Bill, Me
Y: Me

I zone and heal up. I zone back, and I'm still there, with 50%~ health. Bill kills "me", and I game over, even though the real me has 100% health.
