2 weapon fighting elemental damage stacking

This is a long standing bug that I always forget to report. When dual-wielding, elemental damages in weapons apply to both attacks when that wouldn't be logical.
Let's say I have a fire dagger and an ice dagger equipped... attacking gives me a main hand attack doing fire AND ice damage and an off-hand attack doing fire AND ice attack. The expected behaviour would be for the main hand doing fire only and the off-hand doing ice only.

... and I can hear the Rogues and Shadowblades crying over in the corner....

(Yeah, I agree it's a bug, but people are optimizing their equipment choices based on it.)

I think theres a technical reason for it, as there is other equipment (i.e. gloves) that adds elemental damage.
"It's a feature!"

I can see for gloves and such adding elemental damage to both weapons, but it sure sounds like a bug when weapon properties stack from two separate weapons. Now I'm not saying it HAS to be a bug, as extra damage is always welcome (hehe). Even if left as is, I can't see this as being a huge factor later when physical damage comprises the bulk of damage output. I guess an exception would be a really high slime damage weapon stacking--I think I've even seen slime damage in the 40s, and the slowing effect is INCREDIBLE. Wouldn't mind that stacking with two slime weapons

I think the really big effect is that you need only one cold weapon to get two cold attacks. Definitely a bad bug to have.
