Gargantuan Pack of Gwelgoroths in Bree

With iteration umpteen of a Noldor Sun Paladin (mainly to scum for good escorts

), I made my way to Bree after finishing the Old Forest, and encountered this in the middle of town:
EEEEE
EEE
EEEE
It isn't that I don't like challenges, but maybe this is a bit over the top for a lvl 12 character? I was either going to scum Angolwen and Minas Tirith like crazy for lightning resist rings/armor, or move onto another dungeon.
I guess it's not so much of a bug as an insurmountable roadblock (unless above scumming is done), but should this be possible?

They are part of a plotline rather than a bug, but are tough yes. Must confess that I tend to be leaving the good folk of Bree to suffer their cruel attentions until a few levels higher - the baddies will probably be served up at a higher level too then, but have gathered more options for dealing with this pickle, and This Pickle Part II.

A level 12 character who's being played cautiously can handle that part of the "Storming the City" quest, by luring the Es one at a time and ambushing each one as it comes around the corner of a building.
As for "scumming Angolwen for lightning resistance rings" ... I did exactly that! Not for the Bree part of this quest, but for the other part....

Yeah, greycat, that's the usual run of things for me...this time they were all right in the center of town, so I would've probably have had to sneak to an edge of town and LOS them a few at a time. I'm not sure of enemies' LOS (20 squares ballpark), so it would be an interesting project

. I believe the player LOS is 18 squares, and it seems that enemies can see further than that.

You can target stuff at 20 grids, the range of most non-splooshing spells - it sometimes feels as if snow giants and such hit you before you can hit them, but maybe it just seems that way. Might have to use the buildings to get close enough to taunt them, with a P/D to avoid exposing yourself when first passing the encircling hedge. Oh wait, there's policemen in Bree nowadays, exposing yourself might not be looked on too kindly anyway
