[beta 12b] permanently stuck

I'm not sure if this is a feature, but I have an archer permanently stuck in a spider web from a spider he just killed (unmovable after hundreds of turns). Am I missing something?

You have to rest to become unstuck. I'd personally say this is a bug - moving should get one out just as quick.

wow, that's counterintuitive. Yeah, this seems like a bug to me too.

I would assume that 'moving' while pinned should eventually remove the pinned/webbed effect as bumping walls uses a turn. Though I guess it checks if you are able to move, and because you can't it doesn't use a turn, instead of checking that you moved, you did and the movement was obstructed.

I don't think it does use a turn actually. It's just annoying.

I think it doesn't use a turn as well, and I believe this was implemented because someone asked for it. Essentially it avoids you losing turns before you realize you are stuck, which was considered desirable. How would you suggest the behavior be altered?

Pinning should hold you for x turns, and trying to move or resting will use up those turns. On trying to move you get a feedback message saying "You struggle in vain to move." Perhaps there can even be a strength test to break free of the pin.

Personally I think the way it is now is better. I mean, I would hate to loose a turn in the midst of a fight because I didn't notice I got caught in a web, pinned, etc. Probably a message in the player log stating "You are not able to move due to ..." would be enough to clarify you're movement has been disabled; only hitting the '5' key (or self-clicking) to stand still should work (thus effectively consuming a turn).

Although I didn't like it at first, I do like not accidentally using turns. Unfortunately, you can still expend turns if you accidentally try to move into a wall...

Currently, moving into walls uses a turn, why should being stuck in a web be different? In fact, if you think about it if you were really stuck in a giant web, you would probably struggle against it until you broke free. You wouldn't say "I'll just sit here until the web lets me go". I think it's perfectly reasonable to use turns trying to escape from the web. And I agree that STR should be a factor in how quickly you break free.

Further to the original topic, clicking on your character will not use up a turn to unpin you. You have to choose rest from the right-click menu or press . on the keyboard to become unstuck.

I thought this was good behavior until I got stuck in a spiderweb while I had an escort. By the time I was done Resting, I had full hp and mana ... and my escort was far away and two turns from dead. Probably I was unstuck many turns before but being unstuck didn't stop the resting, so I had to continue.

Along with that issue with resting, I can't seem to make it end by 'pressing any key'. If I move using the numberpad, it doesn't cancel it. If I use a hotkey, it doesn't cancel it. Do I have to click or use esc or something to cancel resting?

ESC definitely works, as it's what I've been using. I've heard Enter also works.

You have to press the 'any' key! ;)
