How exactly does track work? I ask because I just had an archer who used it with odd results. He saw only a mold and a mouse. Contented, he rested ... and was killed by a skeleton mage! Admittedly I only had range 11 with my track skill, but skeleton mages have longer range? Not to say that I was in Amon Sul, so there aren't but so many places that have a line of sight longer than 11 paces.

Skeletons can see further then that.

NPC ones at least. That's outrageous. Grumble grumble.

In such situations, to avoid stupid deaths, you can exploit the "Display Creatures" view (that TAB key thingy) to check for npcs in LoS (despite the darkness, it will always list any npc in LoS at any distance). I have it constantly turned on, really a life saver in dark places (like infinite infravision), plus very handy for archers since I constantly refer to it to check if a npc is within range of my bow (and thus fire at it even if I can't see it in the dark)
Hope it helps... the next time

A good reminder. I hate to hide the talents, because I find the information on how long until specific skills are usable again useful, but that Would have saved me that time.

Knowing that tab works to switch helps a lot, by the way. Speaking of things that should be in the documentation once we have it.

Would be good if the icons to switch (to the left of the talent pane) were a bit more visible. On my resolution they're absolutely tiny.
