Boots of uncanny dodging?

I found a pair of stealthy rough leather boots of uncanny dodging, but the item description only mentions a stealth bonus. What's this uncanny dodging thing?

Looks like a ranged defense bonus. Should be able to figure out the exact bonus through the character sheet.

Just found a pair and checked it out; the ego's worth 3RDef to anyone else who's curious.

Actually, the ego grants a bonus to ranged defense of 1d8 + 2 (rolled at object creation), if I understood the code correctly.
