ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

I have been playing T4 on my laptop, which runs Vista and is a 64 bit system. I just put it on my desktop, which runs a 32 bit XP version, and everything is so slow. When I cast a bomb, the fire swirly graphic moves at a snail's pace. All the text that floats up from your character runs much more slowly as well. Menus pop up slowly, and even moving around is slow. Has anyone else run across this? I don't see any settings I can change to optimize performance. It's not like I have 100 other things running on my desktop either. I'm a little dumfounded.

EDIT: I'm running version 11 on both.

Also does your desktop computer have correct and up to date gfx drivers ?

No better with the no-flush exe. Checking on the driver thing.

That sounds like my work machine. Perfectly good CPU; perfectly crappy on-board graphics chipset. All the menu drawing, UI stuff, floating text, etc. is slow like you describe (although it's hard to give objective measurements of such things).

Updated drivers, no luck. Mine isnt an onboard chip either, its a Radeon 9600XT. I guess I'm stuck with it on my laptop for now.
